15 Things to Do in New Braunfels in November

New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This month is no exception; there are a variety of events and gatherings happening in and around town. No need to research: fifteen of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this month are described below. Hopefully, this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country outing a little easier!

1. Salute to the Sausage

That’s right, the ten-day salute to sausage known as Wurstfest is finally back, and we are ready to dive head-first into some potato pancakes. This is a New Braunfels staple of food, fun, and German culture. There are far too many events to list, so be sure to check out the schedule for each day's festivities. It is a family-friendly event, so bring everyone you can fit in the minivan!

2. See Historical Exhibits

During Wurstfest this year, the New Braunfels Conservation Society is hosting an exciting exhibit in Old Town at Conservation Plaza. November 3-12 is the Exhibit of Hidden Treasures of World War I, and November 6-10 is the annual Kaffee Haus where you can get a great German lunch for a good price.

3. Enjoy Good Music and Wine

The first Friday in November, Dry Comal Creek Vineyards is hosting “Sunset and Sinatra”, an event to bring together good music and good wine on a lovely autumn evening. Food trucks will be available to grab a bite for dinner so come hungry. More information is on their Facebook page.

4. Race Your Bike Along the River

With the weather being top notch lately, there isn’t a better way to spend a day than letting the wind blow past you as you ride your bike along River Road in the Tour de Gruene race. If you don’t want to race, they offer bike tours to bask in the beauty of the Guadalupe River on a leisurely ride. More information is available here!

5. Celebrate a New Home

One of our neighbors, Elisa Gonzales, and her family will be welcoming everyone into their new home on Thursday, November 2nd. This home is special because it was built by Habitat for Humanity and allows Elisa to provide a home for her children that she has always dreamed of doing. She wants to share the love!

6. Go on the Wurst Walk

If you want to enjoy the weather but don’t have a bike, don’t fret! The Walking Club of New Braunfels puts on this annual trek through residential areas of New Braunfels for neighbors to get together and bring in the autumn season at your own pace. The event is open to the public and paid walkers will get one admission ticket to Wurstfest.

7. Dance with Alex Meixner

It can’t be a November events list without mentioning the Wurstfest icon Alex Meixner and his polka rock band. If you pick anything to see while the German invasion happens this month in New Braunfels, make it Alex Meixner. It is one of those things that can only be experienced in person for someone to fully grasp how amazing it is. Check the schedule for set times!

8. Bring the Kids to Fall Fun Fest

The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation team is hosting a day full of games, crafts, exhibits, and more at Fischer Park. Get messy at the pumpkin carving and decorating stations, and bring your best scarecrow to participate in a contest at the end of the festival. More details here!

9. Learn to Tie a Fly

Come to Fischer Park for this free event where members of the New Braunfels Fly Fishers will teach curious minds how to tie flies for fly fishing, as well as different fishing techniques and tricks of the sport.

10. Watch a Cyclocross Race

The Austin Cyclocross Cup Series is coming to New Braunfels in November for the WurstCross race benefitting the New Braunfels Parks Foundation. If you have never seen a cyclocross race, it is a high speed, curve-intense, custom bicycle race that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. More details here.

11. Celebrate Veterans at the Parade

Get your friends and family together for a morning in downtown New Braunfels supporting the men and women who have served in our military over the years. There is always fun to be had at these parades, and the kids will surely enjoy themselves!

12. Check Out This Year’s Weihnachtsmarkt

Weihnachtsmarkt is an annual Christmas shopping weekend that plays host to several fun events celebrating Christmas, all benefitting the Sophienburg Museum and Archives. Get German-style Christmas decorations, specialty items, apparel, and more at the vendor booths, and try and make the Star Party or the Schnitt & Strudel events. More details are available here!

13. Watch the Lighting Ceremony

On Friday, November 17th, New Braunfels is lighting the downtown plaza with its Christmas decor and welcoming Santa Claus to the town with joyful cheers and merriment. This is an iconic event for the kids to experience each year.

14. Compete in an Obstacle Course

Texas Ski Ranch is hosting the Rugged Ranch Run on November 18th to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This is a 3k race that will have competing groups going through obstacles and challenges. Texas Ski Ranch is a fun place for families to go and learn about extreme sports in a professional and safe environment, and it’s right here in our town of New Braunfels. 15. Visit the Festival of Trees

Head over to the Milltown Historic District for some midweek fun at the 3rd annual Festival of Trees. Take a walk among many decorated Christmas trees, enjoy live entertainment, and visit Santa while you are there! All proceeds benefit the Comal County Senior Citizens Foundation!
