New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there is a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, five of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this weekend are described below. Hopefully, this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!
Go Caroling on the Plaza
It is a long-standing holiday tradition to sing Christmas carols during the month of December, and our town is no exception to the jolly fun. Caroling on the Plaza is celebrating its 36th year in downtown New Braunfels this Friday at 6:30 PM. The Greater New Braunfels Arts Council hosts this joyous celebration each year by bringing the beauty of Christmas songs sung by children aged from one to ninety-two. This year is promised to be louder and brighter and more love-filled than years prior. It is going to be a little chilly that night, so bundle up, bring a lawn chair, and meet at the gazebo!

Comal ISD is putting on the St. Jude’s Jingle Bell 5K to kick off at Gruene Hall this weekend to benefit St Jude’s Ranch for Children. The Ranch helps abused, abandoned, and neglected children in the area and by running in this race, you are helping these precious kids. When you finish the race, enjoy getting your picture taken with Santa, a sausage wrap, and some well deserved hot chocolate. For more information and registration, please visit the website.

Go See Live Music at the Phoenix Saloon
Downtown New Braunfels is the place to be Friday night. After caroling in the Plaza, head over to the Phoenix Saloon to keep the good times rolling with some good music. Hill Country locals, The Canvas People, will take the stage to bring their indie rock musicianship with velvety harmonies to boot. Each weekend, the Phoenix Saloon has acts ranging from country music to indie rock and has the comfortability of it being a low-key bar loaded with taps for you and your friends to take the edge off from the workweek. Oh, and a little history: it’s where chili powder was invented!
